Below is a brief summary of what is new in Windows 11 for users moving from a previous version of Windows such as 7, 8, 8.1 or 10, and for those upgrading a computer from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
The next version of Windows has been designed to be faster, cleaner, and more secure with a fresh modern interface, and was inspired by 'lockdown' and the need to be able to work from home as efficiently and seamlessly as possible.
The new Windows 11 User Interface features rounded corners, fresh new icons, new animations, lighter atmospheric sounds, and a much cleaner simplified layout which extends across the whole Windows 11 experience.

Windows 11 features a much more simplified start menu than previous versions of Windows.
The start menu button has moved from the bottom left to the center of the taskbar.
The new cleaner menu 'floats' in the middle of the screen.
The live tiles from Windows 10 have now gone.

The Settings app has been much improved with new icons and a much cleaner layout to make it easier to navigate and find the settings you need.

Windows 11 comes with several brand new themes designed to work with both dark and light modes and to complement the new centered taskbar and simplified start menu

The new Windows Widgets can be accessed via icon on taskbar and appear in a “glass” pane which slides out from the left of screen
They show personalized content such as news feeds, weather, sport as well as your calendar, to do lists and photos from OneDrive

With Windows 11 you can easily 'snap' your apps to predefined layouts as shown in animation below by hovering mouse over maximize button and choosing position.
Snap Groups remember your previous layouts which is handy if using a multi-monitor setup as it will restore the previous layout when you next connect the screen or dock your laptop.

You can have multiple desktops each with different layouts and backgrounds.
These can be named so for example you could have one for work and one for home.

A simplified lock screen now just shows date/time and wallpaper picture by default.
You can choose to show additional information such as Calendar, Mail or Weather in Settings.
