Below is a brief summary of all the changes to Windows 11 that were part of the "2024 Update" which was released on October 1st 2025.
Microsoft is also working on some changes to the Start Menu, but at the time of writing it is still unclear whether this will be included in the next update or not, but the details are as below.
The new design features three sections:
Pinned which as before shows any apps you have chosen to pin to start menu.
Recommended which as before shows recently accessed files. This section can be turned off completely if required.
All which is the new addition and shows all your installed apps, with a view which can be toggled between Category, Grid or List. This new section replaces the Show All page of the previous Start Menu.

The new Start Menu also features a sidebar showing any connected mobile phone which you have configured via the Phone Link app which works with both Android and iOS devices. N.B. This sidebar has already appeared for some users.
This sidebar can be completely turned off in settings or toggled on/off using the icon at the top of the Start Menu.
