Below is a brief summary of all the changes to Windows 10 in the "October 2018 Update" version 1809 which was released on 9th October 2018
Windows 10 File Explorer now has a dark theme when "Dark mode" is enabled in Settings. The dark mode is slowly being added to all components of Windows 10 and is preferred by some users as less strain on the eyes.

The settings app in Windows 10 has received lots of attention in this update, a list of the major changes can be found below:-
•New settings added to support HDR displays •Device properties added to the Sound section (previously these were located in Control Panel) •Focus Assist now has settings to automatically detect when playing games •New settings relating to the Clipboard changes e.g. ability to copy/paste across devices using the cloud and your Microsoft Account •Typing insights to show how Windows AI has improved your typing such as spelling correct, keystrokes saved, autocompleted words, suggested words etc •Data Usage to include data used when using a device with a SIM card •Region and Language improvements •Improvements to Ease Of Access tools such as text size and magnifier along with new settings and quick start guides for narrator •Changes to Windows Update to stop it trying to install updates whilst you are working on the computer

Windows Defender Security Center has now been renamed to Windows Security, the layout has also been improved and items reorganized into different sections with better explanations of what each setting does
There is also enhanced Ransomware protection allowing you to control which folders apps have access too

The images below shows an improvement to the search facility on the Windows 10 Start Menu
A new pane appears to the right with additional information and options for the item you select in the left hand pane, so for programs you get options to open, pin, access recent documents or locations etc. For web searches you get a preview of the results, and finally for documents you get details of the file e.g. size, location, type etc

The Snipping Tool which has been available in all versions of Windows for many years has received a major update and is now called Snip & Sketch. This tool allows you to capture an image of your screen and then edit and annotate it.
