Any notifications will appear as icons in the top left corner of your home screen

 

If you swipe down from the top of your screen you can then see more details of any current notifications

 

From here you can then click on a notification to open the relevant app e.g. clicking the email message below will open Outlook, clicking the message about app updates will open the Google Play Store etc
