Basic tips to make moving your PC easier if moving home or simply moving it to another room in the house:-

Before unplugging any cables make a quick sketch (or take a photo) of the back of your PC so you will know where each cable goes (this is especially important with some USB devices such as printers as if plugged into another port they will try to install themselves again, which often results in them not working)

Make sure you package up the computer well, as they can be easily damaged by any knocks or bangs, and the hard drive could suffer damage resulting in a non working PC and possible loss of your data

If moving home make sure you inform your broadband company in good time to arrange for the service to be transferred to your new home - if you are changing provider or are sent a new router then you will need to reconnect all wireless devices using the new details and password

For laptops and tablets ensure you fully shut them down via start menu and not just close the lid and put them into sleep mode, if left in sleep mode they can still wake up and get warm which could cause damage if packed away in a box or laptop case
