Q. I thought Windows has its own Firewall if so why do I need to install additional protection

A. Yes it does, but it is only a very basic version which only blocks inbound traffic by default, so wouldn't protect you from a virus or a rogue application sending your personal data out to others on the internet i.e. outbound traffic, hence why it is no protection when shopping or banking online. It can also easily be turned off by a rogue program or virus thus removing all protection
