Telephone Scam If you receive a phone call from a company saying they have detected problems with your PC, please be aware this is a scam - it appears to be a very well organized crime; in some cases they appear to know your name and what make of computer you own - they give various company names such as Click To Fix (or similar) and they usually tell you they are working on behalf of Microsoft - in most cases they have asked customers to open a program called "Windows Event Viewer" and they say certain entries indicate you have a virus (which is untrue) and then ask to connect to your PC to sort it out, they then demand credit card details before allowing you to access your PC |
